What's the talk about?

Passionate about something? Think your work is really interesting? Perhaps you just want to improve your public communication skills?

"Soapbox in the Pub" is an event where anyone can apply to give one of several 15 minutes talks over the course of an evening in a pub. How you use that time is up to you. If you want a Q&A or want to run it as an interactive session, just let us know.

If you want to talk, please contact Andrew N Holding on Facebook or by using the contact form on this website with a title and a 100-word outline of what you want to talk about. If we have too many applicants, we will choose the best applicants to talk on the night. Please send us your talk proposals by November 26th. We will annouce successful applicants on December 10th.

What we are looking for are original talks on a wide range of topics. Your material should be engaging and suitable for a wide range of abilities. Good examples of talks would be explaining your PhD research, or trying to raise awareness of a charity or cause that doesn’t get the publicity it deserves.

If this event is successful, we plan to hold similar future events.

Please also look at the Soapbox in the Pub Facebook event page.
